Canada and Argentina to Face Off in Semifinal Rematch

Rematch of Copa America Opener

Canada and Argentina will meet in the semifinals of the Copa America, in a rematch of their opening game in the tournament. In the first meeting, defending champions Argentina ran out 2-0 winners, with goals from Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero. Canada will be looking to avenge that defeat and reach the final for the first time.

Canada's Journey to the Semifinals

Canada reached the semifinals with a 1-0 victory over Venezuela in the quarterfinals. Alphonso Davies scored the only goal of the game in the first half, to send Canada through to the last four. Canada also finished top of Group B, with two wins and a draw from their three games. Their only defeat in the tournament came in that opening game against Argentina.

Argentina's Path to the Semifinals

Argentina reached the semifinals with a 3-0 victory over Ecuador in the quarterfinals. Messi scored twice and Nicolas Otamendi added another, to send Argentina into the last four. Argentina also finished top of Group A, with three wins from their three games. They have yet to concede a goal in the tournament.

The semifinal between Canada and Argentina will be played at the NRG Stadium in Houston, on Tuesday, June 22. The winner will face either Brazil or Peru in the final on Sunday, June 27.
